Today, I was emailed a page from the NY Times Op-Ed section regarding Mayor Michael Bloomberg's travesty of an administration (see here http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/29/opinion/29HERB.html?ex=1081564571&ei=1&en=83ffd8a32bb755ad ), and I was absolutely floored by the nerve of this man.

Mayor Bloomberg (in what seems to be almost one breath but was really two days later) praised the NYPD and said that he "wished he could pay them more" and then went on to "giddily" outline his plans to build a multi-million dollar stadium here in NYC.

Meanwhile, my students barely have books for the bullshit balanced literacy program HE thrust upon us...

Meanwhile, the tiles in the girls bathroom continue to fall from the walls, creating an extremely dangerous situation...

Meanwhile, I have to beg my friends for paper and pencils because I can't afford to continuously dish out money for supplies that I am supposed to be getting, while at the same time, he's trying to cut my goddamned salary...

Meanwhile, this same rich SOB whose children have never set foot in a public school, this bastard has the nerve to say that he's going to hold back a bunch of third and fifth graders who can't make the cut (without adding any more supplementary learning programs or supplies) so they can languish in the same delapidated, roach infested, rat ridden buildings for year upon year...

Meanwhile, there are not enough teachers to go around because the pay sucks and you have to put up with micromanaging assholes just to make ends meet.

The nerve.

What a goddamned travesty.
