I read this article and have become even more confused by this whole story.

According to this article and apparently his own parents, Berg was held by US officials after being turned over by Iraqi police who picked him up at a checkpoint (http://www.ktvu.com/news/3296061/detail.html ).

"The young American who was shown being decapitated on a videotape posted by an al-Qaida-linked Web site was never under U.S. custody despite claims from his family, coalition spokesman Dan Senor said Wednesday."

Berg, a small telecommunications business owner, spoke to his parents on March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30, his family said.

But Berg was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days, the family said.

His father, Michael, said his son was not allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer."

Something is really fishy about this story...

At what point AFTER being held by Iraqi police and US officials did Berg get caught AGAIN?????
