My brother is in denial about the whole thing. For some weird reason, she really perks up when she hears or sees him. Since she's been ill, she sits in one place for hours on end and doesn't move at all, so it's weird that she even gets up at all.
He keeps saying, "See, she's okay!"
When I remind him about what the Dr. says, he gets a little teary eyed and walks out of the room.
She's been his favorite since she was an itty bitty little kitten, so I know this is particularly hard for him, this man who exhibits about as many emotions as Mr. Spock.

I still have her here--- at least for the week--- so you can be sure that the thing hasn't impacted me as much as it will on Friday when we actually have to put her down. I'm going to be a hot mess for weeks after.

I am worried about how her brother, my male cat, will react. She has been a constant in his life and will surely notice that she has disappeared.

He's not in the best health, either. About a year or so ago, he was diagnosed with feline diabetes. He gets insulin shots every day, twice a day.

I'm scared that he may deteriorate, too.

This is what I've been fearing for years. I didn't expect it would come so soon...
