I was once a BIG old Smiths fan.

Yup, that's me- I'm one of those folks who, at the tender age of 14, gave up meat after getting thoroughly disgusted by the meat grinding sounds from "Meat is Murder".

Call it teen angst, but I was obsessed.

I was once even convinced that he wrote a song about me (after he met my former best friend who, incidently, gave him her journal with a whole bunch of stories written about our sad, adolescent existences) back in 1980-something.

Apparently, there's a recent firestorm of controversy over something Morrissey supposedly said.

In any case, if the Moz DID say this indeed, I do think it was in poor taste.

Hell, I hate that talking monkey as much as anyone, but being the pacifist that I am, I've never wished him dead (although I got a good chuckle from John Kerry's remarks about him falling off his bike. Says Kerry, "Did he lose his training wheels???" HA!).

This DID elicit a laugh from me, though. Hell, I'm not surprised at all.

It's not what he said that made me laugh, mind you, but I did laugh...
