No, I am not a revived 33 year old Morrissey fan- I'm just way too old for that!

I must say that there seems to be quite a few things that he's been saying on his new album that make a whole lot of sense to those of us who hate what the talking monkey has done to our country.

Some good examples (thank you, Phat Dawg for telling me about this)- from "America Is Not the World":

America your head's too big,
Because America,
Your belly's too big
And I love you,
I just wish you'd stay where you is

In America, The land of the free, they said,
And of opportunity,
In a just and a truthful way
But where the president,
Is never black, female or gay,
And until that day
You've got nothing to say to me,
To help me believe"

Hmmm...

Some weeks ago, when Morrissey played the Apollo Theater (I STILL can't get over that one!) I read the lyrics to Morrissey's song "Irish Blood, English Heart" and found one part very appropriate in these strange times.

When I read them, I read them with an American's head, and realized how well they fit.

"I've been dreaming of a time when
To be English (American?) is not to be baneful
To be standing by the flag not feeling shameful,
Racist or partial"

Our current president has done just this- has helped to create a climate worldwide that sees us as bigotted, greedy warmongers.

While we were in Scotland, I asked my Old Man's cousin what her general feeling (and how she thought he is perceived by most Scots that she knew) of our president was.

She snickered and said without a so much as a pause, "He's an idiot. Laughable."

America is not the world, despite what most Americans seem to think.
