The sun was bright today. If you stood away from the shadows and out of the way of the blistering, biting wind, it warmed your face and reminded you that despite the coming snowstorm, spring and all the beauty of rebirth really is just around the corner.

Today was tough. I can't believe that I made it through work as well as I did.

Truthfully, I barely made it.

Damnable thoughts...

I kept imagining her being cold and lonely and afraid in the ground, wondering where I was and why I had left her alone in that dark place.
I think it has to do with the fact that when we laid her down into the earth, she simply looked as if she was sleeping--- as if she would get up any second and run to me.

And then, the love was there to push those thoughts away.

All day, I kept imagining her running up to me as I walked in the door.

Her standing on her hind legs to push her soft little head against my hand.

Her putting her dainty little paws on my shoulders as I kissed her pretty little damp nose.

Damn.

When I got home, I swear I heard her mewing, too...

Jesus...

I wish I really had the time to mourn her...
